Shear Test
The composite shear test is a crucial method for determining the shear resistance of materials. The test procedures and standards strictly comply with ASTM specifications, covering key standards such as ASTM D5379 (V-Notched Beam Shear), ASTM D7078 (V-Notched Rail Shear), and ASTM D2344 (Short Beam Shear Strength).
The test can be performed using LSI's specialized equipment. The test fixtures are manufactured from high-quality steel and precision-machined to control fit tolerances and surface finish, minimizing parasitic stresses and misalignment to ensure data accuracy. For strain measurement, LSI's video extensometer is recommended. It enables non-contact, multi-directional synchronous strain monitoring and can track until specimen failure, avoiding interference from traditional contact devices.
Through these tests, key mechanical parameters such as composite shear strength can be obtained. The experimental processes and results comply with international standards and the requirements of OEMs such as Airbus and Boeing, providing a reliable basis for the application of materials in aerospace and other high-end fields.
