Test Type

Tensile Test
Tensile testing of composite materials is a core method for evaluating key mechanical properties such as elastic modulus, Poisson's ratio, and ultimate tensile strain. This test demands extremely high precision in strain measurement, as the effective strain range of composite materials is typically very narrow (0.05% - 0.25%).
Strain measurement technology directly impacts the reliability of results. While strain gauges and contact extensometers have their limitations, non-contact video extensometers have become the industry trend. They enable continuous, non-contact measurement until specimen failure, providing more accurate data. Additionally, high-performance test fixtures are crucial to ensure uniform load transfer and avoid inducing parasitic stresses.
The entire testing process must strictly adhere to international standards such as ASTM and ISO to guarantee the validity and comparability of data. Choosing a solution that integrates a video extensometer with specialized fixtures, such as those provided by LSI SYSTEMS, can effectively address the various challenges in composite material testing.
