Fracture Toughness Test
The composite fracture toughness test is a critical method for evaluating a material's resistance to crack propagation. The test strictly adheres to ASTM D6671, primarily conducting Mode I/II mixed-mode and automated Mode I fracture toughness testing.
The test can rely on LSI's professional solutions. The test equipment and software procedures fully comply with the latest international standards and are compatible with the technical requirements of OEMs such as Airbus and Boeing, ensuring valid and credible results. For strain measurement, LSI's proprietary video extensometer is recommended. Utilizing digital image analysis, this device achieves non-contact measurement, avoiding damage or additional loading to the specimen. It accurately tracks the test until specimen failure, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Additionally, the test requires high-quality steel fixtures from LSI. Precision-machined to minimize stress eccentricity and alignment errors, these fixtures further enhance test reliability. Through this test, key parameters of composite fracture toughness can be obtained, providing important support for the structural safety design of materials.
