Hydraulic Wedge Tensile Grips

Overview

• Hydraulic Wedge Grips are designed for secure specimen clamping on universal testing machines and similar tensile-testing systems operating at ambient temperature or in low- and high-temperature environments. Available configurations support ambient-temperature testing, –100 °C to 260 °C, or –100 °C to 500 °C operation. They are particularly suitable for tensile testing of high-strength materials and applications involving high test forces.

• During a test, the hydraulic wedge mechanism delivers sufficient and adjustable clamping force to prevent specimen slippage. The grips combine reliable load transfer with labor-saving operation and high testing efficiency, helping users conduct tensile tests with consistent and repeatable clamping conditions.

Design Features and Benefits

Wide temperature capability:
Suitable for ambient-temperature applications and available for temperature ranges of –100 °C to 260 °C or –100 °C to 500 °C.
High gripping capability:
The jaw hardness can reach HRC 62, supporting reliable clamping for high-strength materials and high-force tensile tests.
Symmetrical load distribution:
The symmetrical design distributes load evenly over the wedge-contact surface, helping to avoid premature specimen failure and inaccurate test results.
Adjustable clamping force:
Hydraulic gripping pressure can be adjusted according to the specimen surface hardness and required tensile load, allowing testing of a broad range of materials.
Impact-resistant and easy to service:
The grips offer good impact resistance, while wedge-jaw replacement is quick and convenient.
Simple, repeatable operation:
Specimen clamping is straightforward and operator-friendly, with low requirements for operating skill and good repeatability.

Jaw Selection Guidance

Below HRC 38:
Standard wedge jaws are recommended.
Above HRC 38:
Please specify the specimen geometry and hardness so that a suitable jaw configuration can be selected.

Application

• These grips are used for tensile-property testing of metallic and other high-strength materials under ambient, low-temperature, or elevated-temperature conditions. They are well suited to testing scenarios where high gripping force, specimen alignment, and resistance to slippage are required.(Note:The applicable temperature range and jaw configuration should be selected according to the specific testing system, specimen geometry, material properties, and test requirements.)
